AZSHARA CRATER BATTLEGROUND EVENT : (By FallenSeraph)

This is not an official TRB Battleground. It is, however, a repeatable event. We can play it as many times as we want, given some time to prepare.
This is handcrafted, not scripted.

0 - BEFORE YOU START :


0A - Do /join Events , Check the forum thread for the rules and also check the "Event Cool Tools" thread if you never did so.

0B: "PROVING YOUR GLORY": This simple concept means proving to the gm that you accomplished an objective and are deserving of a flag. (more on this soon). This is done as a way to verify Authenticity of a player feat in the event. Usually it just involves cleaning the area and messaging the gm, and waiting for him to check you - But in some cases (Like captain kills who released, or despawned mobs) it is better to have a SS on hand. If there is is no hint and no evidence, you do not get your flag.

So from now on, whenever i mention ".... do this, and then Prove your Glory", i merely mean "whisper me and then please be patient, and of course, stand your ground, because the enemy may still snatch your Glory from you."

0C: "Why do i have to "Prove my Glory" when in WSG i just grab the flags and run and they work ? " - Well, this is as near the real thing as it gets for now. Chances are, you will only get one GM running the whole thing as usual, so every time you have to prove your Glory, be patient and do stand your ground. - Mob respawn timers will be adjusted to fit this situation, and player respawns are increasingly slower just like outside of dungeon instances. Maybe, if this event ever becomes a thing, we may then request for it to get really scripted, and then you guys wont need a GM to run the event anymore.

1. BASIC LAY:


1A - GATHERING:

(If you are already used to the Events party gathering, you may skip item 1 A )

Party leaders shall volunteer or else be elected on each side. From now on I will refer to them as Team Captains. They will help the GM to take care of recruitment.
The number of level 60 players must be initially the same. - It means the Bigger party must stop recruiting till GM gives the ok to recruit or accept more candidates.
On 3 members (minimum) or 5 members, halt accepting new members till the other side confirms 3 or 5 members.
Then if possible, try for 10,15 etc , using the same method.
Non 60 players may join, help or even just visit, but they do not count towards initial queue balance.
Players are entitled to summon during the event (warlocks FTW !)
Players who msg the GM about joining after the event started will only be taken in if the current team numbers are inconsistently different, and bringing those new members to the match will be done at their faction base. Be patient.



1B-DEBRIEFING:

Debriefing (Pretty much a reminder summary of this info here) shall be done on the ring of valor using yells, or else using copied msgs on the Events channel for both factions.



1C-SPAWNING:

The ally team is spawned at the Night Elf Stronghold, north of the map.The horde team is spawned at the Orcish stronghold, South.

1D-RESPAWNING:

On death, players are to wait respawn on the spot, using outer dungeon rules( on release, you wait for a timer, then you respawn on spot) . There is no GM "death support" nor spirit healers.


1E- LEAVING:

To leave, warn your team leader (name a new one if you are the leader) , leave your party and either HS or else ask the GM for a ride home and wait. Leaving the event before its end will forfeit your right to any kind of reward.

2. BASIC MATCH RULES:



2A. SCORE:

The quantity of flags laid on the ground inside a factions base. If there are 14 blue flags inside the alliance hold, then the Ally score is 14.

Needed score to win the Azshara Crater match, depending on team size and players opinion :

10 Flags : Trial match (Suited for 3 x 3 or 5 x 5 )
20 Flags: Grudge Match (More suited for 5x5 or 10 x 10 )
30 Flags: Campaign Match (More suited for 20 x 20 or more )

2B. TIME LIMIT: If the match takes over one hour ( GM clock ) , The GM will halt the match and the team with the most flags in their base won.

2C. EARNING SCORE AND FLAG TYPES :

There are various ground flag objectives scattered across the battleground.

ALLIANCE FLAGS (Blue) Can be captured by the Horde, and be protected by the Alliance. Are found within the Alliance Defense Zone.

HORDE FLAGS: (Red) Can be captured by the Alliance, and protected by the Horde. Are Found wiihin the Horde Defense Zone.

CONTESTED FLAGS: (Duel flags ) Can be captured by either alliance or horde, and once captured will change color to match, becoming red or blue on the hands of the carrier. Are usually found in the contested zone (Center Battlefield), but some can be found within both the Defense Zones too, meaning that if you are a fast invader, you might snatch some flags that were intended for your enemies.


Clearing contested objectives or objectives with the flag color that matches your enemy faction, and then Proving your Glory (Calling for the GM via /whisper . Please be patient !) will summon the GM for inspection and then earn you a flag (you will be carrying your enemy factions flag, like in WSG).

if you successfully carry that flag back to your base and once again /w the GM and is successfully inspected, the flag you are carrying will vanish and one more flag will be placed in your bases inner ground, meaning your faction scored one more flag point.

LOSING YOUR FLAG: Remember however that if you are slain while carrying a flag, it will completely vanish and you must then try to redo the objective or else look for another objective. Most objectives respawn but some are a pain to redo.

Flags do not lay on the ground if you drop them - They vanish, in Azshara crater, and are lost. So, while carrying a flag do not die, do not try to mount, do not stealth / prowl, and do not enter and exit your stronghold again carrying it. That last line is a bug related to the /dismount function that the stronghold gate performs on players, and currently there is nothing I can do about it - Once you walk your flag into your stronghold, go straight to the center and call the GM to cap it.

Ground Flags do not "respawn on the ground" once captured or lost - They are gone, unless the GM respawn the repeatable ones for lack of flags, and even that takes a long time.


Too Long Didnt Read version:

Beat objectives and Prove your Glory to carry flags, carry flags of your enemy faction to your base to score points . Reach the points goal to win the event.

3: A "SHORT" OBJECTIVES LIST : (Learn your event here, so you understand why you called the GM and did not get a flag ! )


3A: ENEMY TEAM CAPTAIN:

(Faction, Repeatable objective)

"Team Captain" in this particular event is the chosen team leader.
Captains start each encounter match (Shortly after team spawning) holding the target flag for the enemy faction - A dare!
If an enemy faction player kills the captain and proves it, the slayer will earn a carried flag.
Captains will get their "Dare flag" back every few minutes on them.
A captain should remember that having a Dare flag does not mean you can score at your own base. (its the wrong color flag, and to score you need to bring back the correct flag).
UPDATE: Due to an issue with the way players suffer a "dismount" effect when leaving their strongholds, flags are dispelled when leaving the stronghold (not when entering). This means two things. One, captains will get their enemy flags (making them targets) on leaving their stronghold for the first time and every now and then, after if they die. Second, it means that if a captain intentionally returns to their own stronghold just to dispel the dare flag, they will be penalized - After warning, their enemy faction will get a flag on one of their players.



3B: ENEMY FACTION LEADERS:

(Faction, One time each)

Scattered across key points of the Defense Zones of the battleground are the leaders of both factions.
Two of them are safe inside their faction bases, but the rest of them are on their bases or on the field ,commanding their troops .
They too are carrying flags, like the Team Captain, so if you find a "Mob carrying a target flag", you found a Faction Leader. Well, you probably know them by now.
Slaying an enemy faction leader and proving it to the GM will have him inspect the situation (please be patient!) and then award you with flags.
Faction leaders are very hard to kill and huge respawn rates so be careful when carrying their flags as not to die. Please SS your victory over the faction leader to clear any issues (make sure its a full screen SS )
Killing a faction leader will award a flag for each character involved in the winning sub-team (shown in the SS), so it is hard work but worth it.

EXAMPLE: The Horde raid for this match has 18 players, and 7 of them work hard to down King Magni. - Once one of them Prove His Glory, The GM will award those 7 with Flags to cap, all at the same time, increasing the chance that some* of them will make it back to base alive, and increasing the chance of a huge score surge. ( 0 to 7 flags in one go ) . But nothing is certain, and a good defense layout after the announcement of the death of a Faction Leader might as well end with all those brave heroes slain, and all flags lost. Such is Azshara Crater.


3C: BATTLEMASTERS:

( Faction, repeatable with long FLAG respawn time, regardless of NPCs individual respawn time )

The Alliance and Horde Masters of each battleground (Warsong Gulch, Alterac valley, Arathi Basin) are also present in key points of the Defense Zones of the Azshara Crater Event, backed up by their followers, and also surrounding Target Flags. Slaying these Battlemasters and their Faction Quartermaster will earn you one Flag after inspection, as if you had slain the enemy team captain.


3D: RANDOM CONTESTED FLAGS:
(Contested, Repeatable - Will respawn as soon as the match runs out of Flags )

Scattered trough the whole center zone and scarcely in the Defense Zones, are contested flags with monsters and other villains, some hidden away from the main road between the bases, some easier, others harder. Clear the field of hostiles, both mobs and enemy players, and Prove your Glory to claim the flag. These are easy to prove and usually require no screenshots. As usual the one who whispered the GM gets ONE flag to cap, after inspection.

3E: THE RING OF THE SERPENT:
( Contested, One time per match )

To the southeast of the Horde stronghold, lies the entrance to the Ring of the Serpent, an old arena built by the Naga to honor their Queen.
it is locked, and two Serpent Statues lie outside of it. To open it, one must find two Gems of the Serpent, as using one gem on the statue (While proving your Glory) will make both the statue and the gem disappear.
If you make both statues disappear, the gate to the ring shall open. Inside the ring, a powerful arena event awaits - Beating it and proving your glory will earn each member of the sub-team a flag, as if they had defeated an enemy faction leader.
To earn the (Unique Carried ) Gems of the Serpent, it is said that you must Prove your Glory after slaying 2 very powerful Naga Boss enemies, somewhere in this zone...

3F: THE SIEGE TOWERS:
( Faction, One time each, per match)
Both the Horde and the Alliance have in their defense perimeters several guard towers. There is also one extra guard tower for each faction in the Center Contested Zone
The towers have a number of units guarding them against the other faction at every level. At the top there is a stronger lieutenant guarding a Dare Flag.Slaying him and Proving your Glory shall earn you one flag.
If you capture every tower of your enemy faction, The Alterac Valley General of yourr faction will spawn at your Defense Zone entrance tunnel to reinforce its defense.

We are aware that the Alliance Zone has more towers to capture than the Horde Zone. Blame Blizzard. We made up for this by adding more sub boss targets to the Horde Zone than to the Alliance.

3G THE SIEGE ENGINES:
(Contested, Once each per Match)
On the center of the battlefield, near some wrecked siege engines, lie a few damaged Siege Tanks, currently surrounded by Dark Iron units and their engineers and techs, trying to repair the tanks to put them to use in the battle.
Defeat them all (and any enemy players in the vicinity) and Prove your Glory to get temporary control of the tank, and a flag to bring to base with it.
Control dispels on death .
Your "tank" will dispel if you try to ride your mount - And you must be in tank form in order to deliver this objective, so avoid doing any action that would relinquish a Flag, and deliver on foot,.
If you bring the tank "alive" to base (you pilot it) , you score your flag.
Then, you may keep piloting it till you die, or you may chose to "hop off" the tank and leave it on your bases defense. (Spawning a tank npc allied with your faction at your stronghold gate.)


3H: THE SYNDICATE:

( Contested, Once per Match )

Hiding deep within an old abandoned cave within the Alliance Defense Zone, lie the elite remnants of the Syndicate.
They have armed suppression devices on the cave corridor and are hidden, ready to strike along with their subtle leader.
Defeat him , clean the area and have all the suppression devices disarmed (this will take at least one rogue) , and then Prove your Glory to earn a Flag.


3I: THE FURBOLG COLONIES:

(Contested, Once per Side (There are two colonies) , Repeatable with long respawn )

Near both factions defense zones are offroad Furbolg villages that used to belong to the Timbermaw Furbolg Clan.
They are now taken by the Deadwood Furbolg, led by their shamans - Which now boast increased size and strength due to the Winterfall Firewater they have been receiving from their Winterfall allies.
Slay all shamans in one same village and prove your Glory to make HighChief Winterfall and his Winterfall allies appear. Slay them to earn a Flag.



3K: THE ALTERAC CAPTAINS' DUEL: ( AKA the Bridge Wars )

(Contested, Repeatable until one side gets the center flag on their Faction Banner)

Stormpike Captain Balinda Stonehearth and Frostwolf Captain Galvangar are locked in an infinite duel in the center of the map, the bridge between both zones, along with some guard units. A player who slays the enemy captain and its units and break the enemies faction flag (positioned behind the enemy captain mob) and then Prove his Glory with a SS (no hostile units, targeting the enemy captain mob, the enemy captain mob must not be a GRAY kill ! ) will get a flag.

The duel flag will be removed meaning the event can not be redone until the GM respawn the duel flag.

With each such victory, when the GM respawns the flag, it will respawn a few steps to the direction of the captain that won the last bout. (it starts in the center of the bridge)

3 straight victories would be enough to make the flag move from the center of the bridge to the faction flag that lays behind the faction captains.

If the GM sees the duel flag of the bridge is respawned touching the faction flag behind the captain NPC of your faction,, the Bridge war is permanently over, its contested Flag removed, and your sub team gets flags as if you had defeated a Faction Boss. Basically this outcome works like an arm wrestle.

3L: THE LAMENT OF THE QUEEN:

(Contested, Two Objectives, Once each)

They say that somewhere near the Highborne ruins near the center of the battlefield,there is a secret time rift to the old Queens Citadel.
Defeat (or aid, if you are Alliance) the Azshara sentinels and fight the Highborne and Banshee spirits, and when the field is clean, use the Flame of Azshara to extinguish it and prove your Glory for one Flag.

If you return with the Flame already extinguished, you may find the Highborne Summoner and free the Queens Statue from his grasp. Use the statue and prove your Glory for a second flag.

3M: STEALING FLAGS FROM THE ENEMY BASE:

(Faction, Repeatable)

Inside the enemy faction stronghold there is a main faction boss (Bolvar Fordragon for the Alliance and Thrall for the Horde) and each of them is worth a faction boss kill flag ( meaning a flag carry for each person involved in the kill ).
But other than that, there is a flag to be taken at the inner back of the stronghold, behind the faction boss.
To claim that flag, a team captain (player team leader) must brave the enemy stronghold and prove his Glory after fully clearing the inside of the base of all hostiles, guards and players included.
If he caps that flag sucessfully, that will remove that flag permanently from the enemy base and the faction boss also wont respawn.
But, subsequent invasions on that same match with the same rules (captain only, proving glory with no hostiles) will snatch one of the Enemy flags ! (The captain gets a flag , and if he manages to cap, he scores a flag PLUS the enemies lose one!
The enemies will only lose one if the captain actually caps that flag, in order to save the GMS sanity in case of a snatch cap contest . )



3N: THE SCARLET GAUNTLET

(Contested, repeatable, slow respawn)

Dominating one certain path of the Center Contested Zone called the Dragon Pass, are the powerful leaders of the Scarlet Crusade - Harnessing the blood of Heroes of Old, for reasons untold. Slaying them and securing the blood shall earn you one flag.
Past them, lie the members of the crimson Guard.
And beyond them, a few of the most important members of the Scarlet Hierarchy.
Finally , past the statues of Dragon Pass, lie another unit of Hero Blood recovery, formed by the bulk of the Elite army of the Scarlet Crusade.
This part of the dragon pass became known recently as the Scarlet Gauntlet.
It is said that braving the Scarlet Gauntlet is the only way into a hidden portion of this map, summing almost one third of the whole battle zone, and full of secrets,wonders and horrors.
It is also said that somewhere in Azshara Crater, lies someone who know how to better deal with the Scarlet Gauntlet, other than wasting time and blood. By Parleying or Slaying this man, one could acquire again old and very rare means of dealing with most of the Scarlet Crusade....



3O: THE DEMON CHASE:

(Contested, Once per Match )

It is said that if the battle of Azshara Crater takes too long, an extremely powerful demon enemy will spawn at random to guard the spirits of this Defiled Battlefield. The demon is said to be hard to tank and to kite, and impossible to slain - But that if you can somehow kite it to a SACRED PLACE WITHIN THE AZSHARA CRATER, it shall be defeated for good and the one who kited it shall be awarded a Flag once he Proves His Glory.




3P : WARCRAFT: REINFORCE THE DEFENSES:
( Faction, Optional )

In front of your faction strongholds there are a few recruits focusing on aiding the stronghold defense.
Their numbers can be increased by purchasing ore from the vendors (goblin for horde, gnome for alliance) just inside the stronghold and trading it to the GM (Call him via /who to reinforce the base defenses.- As when proving your glory, please be patient !!) . Every trade will make the GM spawn a different kind of reinforcement outside of your stronghold.

OPTIONAL 2 : You may also recruit additional defenses by trading the gm the ore that spawns around the giant gold mine objects near your stronghold, If you can beat its guardians and if you can mine it. Trading less ore to the GM in one go will cause a smaller upgrade in stronghold defenses. Of course the ore mines will eventually run out, leaving only the enemy ore mine and any ore mines that may be hidden in the center of the battlefield left.

Proving your Glory = Calling for the GM after beating an objective. Be patient and stand your ground. You must be alive and the objective conditions must be met when i inspect you.


Beat objectives and "Prove your Glory" to carry flags, carry flags of your enemy faction to your base to score points . Reach the points goal before your enemies do to win the event.

Read the main post of this thread for objectives. (Item 3 )

If you spot an enemy player carrying a flag he should not ( A flag that you should be carrying, with their faction color on it ), you found the enemy team captain!
Slay him and prove your Glory to get a flag. This objective is repeatable as long as the captain has a flag of their faction. GMs will respawn the flags that team captains carry from time to time.

If you spot an enemy boss mob (Faction leaders from enemy faction) carrying a flag, and manage to slay him / her with your team, the extra effort is rewarded - Every present member of your strike team will get a flag to carry after you prove your Glory, increasing the chances that someone will cap, and that you will make a lot of score in one go.


Clicking an Azshara Crater Flag on the ground will not make you grab it, you must Prove your Glory (Call the GM after beating the objective) to release the flag.

Azshara Crater flags dont land on floor if you lose them. they disappear. You lost it, period. Do not die, mount, stealth, or right click your flag buff when carrying a flag. Druid morphs are ok.
Also, if you enter and exit a stronghold while carrying a flag, you will trigger an automated "dismount" feature that will make you bug and lose your flag - Dont play at stronghold doors if you are carrying flags.

To cap a siege tank (You "pilot" it) you must reach your base in tank form - Its like carrying a flag but you cant even do a druid morph.

If you cap the flags on every enemy tower, including the one in the contested zone, and then prove your glory, the Alterac General of your faction will be summoned to aid in defending the entrance to your Defense Zone.

To steal flags from your enemy score, you need to invade the enemy stronghold, beat the faction leader there (need a considerable team), cap those flags, return later, clean the area, and then your captain must cap the flag at the inner back of the enemy stronghold. Once that flag is no more, every time your captain comes back for a flag in the enemy stronghold, they will get a flag and, on successful cap, the enemy score will also lose one. (Snatched flag)
Summarizing, only your team captain can snatch the flag that is located inside the enemy stronghold, and that flag must be already captured for your captain to be able to steal enemy score flags.

How are players going to/from the Aszhara crater location? GM port? Are you going to add a doodad that automatically ports people inside?

Being able to see Aszhara crater firshand would be incredible.
