Some good points Poj, thanks.

I'll post more when I'm not doing this on my phone but I just wanted to say that the "blizz-like" +"slippery slope" argument really doesn't hold water with Rebirth PvP.

Basically if we start descending the slippery slope in the other direction, towards 100% blizzard-like, then we will have to remove certain features like the .bg command. Everyone will have to queue at a battlemaster. This will very probably severely hurt PvP on the server.

Logically a "slippery slope" argument can go both ways so please let's not resort to it.

Other points that you made were valid and worth considering. I'd just like to say that I'm not behind all the points in my last post, I was just summerising.

It took years for Rebirth to fix the 3 piece silithus suits not being consumed during Silithus summons.
It was commonplace (expected, even?) to level alts on both factions just to pop Qs in the middle of the night for r13+ grinders.

There are many things about Rebirth that haven't been Blizzlike over the years, but I think when we tend in the direction of how things truly were in vanilla, we have a quantifiable and objective reference point.

Yes, mixed AHs, Qs from anywhere, 5x quest xp, cheap repairs, global chats etc are all QoL changes, but the question is, in all of this: where to draw the line. I think our answer is less is more. Where less is deviation from true vanilla, and more is the resulting enjoyment factor. After all, vanilla servers are alive and well not because of what vanilla could be, but the memory of what it was.

True, I agree that the goal of getting close to what a blizzard server was is great. But I think we still need to be mindful of the community, and that no matter what we do we cannot be a vanilla server. Let's not call for non blizz-like things to be changed just for the sake of blizz-like. I think the community needs to be taken into account.

Just where to draw the line is definitely up for discussion. That's what so many of these forum posts are about. This one included. And for a PvP thread it had been remarkably civil!
